In this issue: there is a summary of the various proposals for local government reorganisation in Devon, which are currently being considered by central government. This is also the theme of the Society's AGM on Thursday 4th June. AGM details are included on page 2, please consider the questions you might like to pose to the speakers! A recent planning decision has called the status of Neighbourhood Plans into question, and 'Is your parish at risk?' discusses the implications. It has been a hard winter for many trees, and possible replacements are considered. Finally, the campaign to save Woodcot, Salcombe continues to simmer following SHDC's decision not to list it as an Asset of Community Value - the full recommendation is included, with an update on the campaign.
In this issue: there is the continuing story of local government reorganisation, as Devon County Council produce their own plan for a 'New Devon' set-up. The planning application for a wind turbine in the Bigbury area has been withdrawn, but there is some background to the application and the implications for the AONB and the wider area. We also hear how Kingsbridge acquired its very own derelict 'quarry' site in the shape of the Locks Hill development, and the more encouraging case of the renovation of the Moorland building. Lastly, Woodcot in Salcombe has been in the local and national news recently, when it became public knowledge that Age UK were exploring the sale of the house and its listed gardens and woodland on the Salcombe waterfront. The campaign continues to save Woodcot for the community, and to maintain its use to provide accommodation for older people as its original donor intended.
In this issue: we report on the Society's AGM and the discussion on 'Dividing Up the South Hams'. There is an illustrated guide to the various proposals for local government reorganisation; some of the positive changes resulting from the new ownership of the Bantham Estate; the long tale of the development at Brewery Quay in Salcombe and its principal residency conditions; and an update on some recent planning applications.
